BEIJING, June 30 (Xinhua) -- The Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee held a meeting on Friday to review the guidelines on a raft of policies and measures supporting the high-standard and high-quality construction of the Xiong'an New Area.

Xi Jinping, general secretary of the CPC Central Committee, presided over the meeting.

The focus of the work involving Xiong'an has shifted to high-quality construction and high-level management, the meeting pointed out.

Therefore, it is of great significance to roll out a package of supporting policies for coordinating and advancing the relocation of Beijing's functions nonessential to its role as the capital to the new area, as well as the massive construction in Xiong'an, it noted.

Participants of the meeting stressed that targeted measures should be taken in light of the new area's actual needs with an emphasis on the interests and concerns of those being relocated.

Sustained efforts should be made to implement landmark relocation projects in Xiong'an, with intensified measures to promote economical, efficient, green and low-carbon development, according to the meeting.

It also called for pursuing innovation, promoting the implementation of reform in relevant sectors in Xiong'an, improving the new area's business environment, strengthening scientific innovation and developing high-end and new- and high-tech industries.

The design of the new area's future urban construction and operation system should be more forward-looking, and efforts must be made to explore a new pattern of modern urban governance with Chinese characteristics, the meeting noted.
